WTF Lots of Words
So we had a very busy weekend. Friday, we were going to see Little Miss Sunshine, but it ended up falling through.
Saturday, we went to the Olympic National Forest. Not park. Forest. We were hoping not to spend too much money on a hike, but as always, it never works out. We had to pay $20 one way for a ferry. That sucks. On the way back, the guy only charged up for 1 passenger and 1 vehicle, so that was cool. And then, when we got to the forest, it was $15 to get in there. So I embarrased Jen by making her ask if there was a free place to hike. There was! So we went for about an hour hike. It said beginner, but it was most definitely not. Maybe they mean with respect to the danger factor, but it was all uphill and quite steep. It was really pretty though.
So after we hiked a bit, we went down to the beach and scavenged as many blackberries as we could. We had a really nice time. Then, we took the Bremerton (or was it Bainbrdge?) ferry directly into Seattle instead of the one to Edmonds. And then it was a quick drive home, which is exactly what we needed after a long day.
Sunday was PAX. We headed out pretty late, 11am, considering it started at 10am. It was packed with nerds, geeks, dorks, and dweebs. I found out that I am not a Gamer, I am a gamer. Weird. I guess I really knew that back in DigiPen. There, you were either a gamer or a game developer. Those who were gamers didn't last long.
In any case, we went to the exhibition hall where there were all sorts of games to play. I signed up for the GamerchiX, That should be cool. We also played Guitar Hero II. I totally embarrassed Jen again by getting in over my head. I played bass because it didn't seem like there were any chords. Well, of course, the song we pick has a shitload of chords. And, of course, we picked hard. So we failed infront of everyone. It sucked.
After that, we had lunch at Rock Bottom Brewery. We had this beer sampler which was for the most part really tasty. Also, educational.
Then, we stood in line for the Gabe and Tycho panel. It was funny, as expected. The questions from the audience were exactly what I expected. "Jedi or Wolverine?" "Pirate or ninja?" Superman or Wolverine with Kryptonite claws?" For real.
Then, there was all kinds of Xbox playing all weekend. We are totally addicted to Xbox Live Arcade. I get the games for free, so it's not like it's breaking the bank, but it is breaking time records for daylight hours in bed. The projector is in the bedroom.
Anyway, that was the weekend.
